NDP’s Seasonal PickAmy Benham
The weather is starting to get chilly out and I can feel my skin dry up as soon as I step into the harsh wind. I don’t know why but I’ve always been sensitive to cold weather, maybe I’m just not used to it (coming from a warmer climate) and neither is my skin. So to get a head start and beat the dryness before it comes in the full force of a Korean winter and beats me, I’ve reached back out to my Desertica Collagen Moisturizing Cream. During the summer I was using the Cica Bio-Placenta Cream which was really helpful to maintain my skin’s condition. I’ll still be using this through winter but I’m also going to be alternating it with the Desertica cream which has a thicker, creamier texture to lock in my skin’s moisture.
Texture is really important for me, it really says everything about the quality and effectiveness of a product.
And good texture comes from a good formula which also means good ingredients. I like that this moisturizer has been carefully designed and each ingredient has a specific purpose as to why it was used in the cream. The key ingredients here are Deserticola which is used for hydration, Collagen to keep your skin supple and bouncy, and it also has AUR (BETA)-Glucan which I’ve been reading about a lot lately. AUR (BETA)-Glucan both moisturizes and calms your skin by retaining water, meaning that it maintains your skin’s hydration.
An important thing I learned about hydration is that there is a difference between hydration and retention. Hydration is when my skin absorbs moisture, whereas retention is when my skin retains moisture. There are so many products which can hydrate your skin but the important thing is to RETAIN that hydration. Since learning that I’ve always been on the look out for moisturizers that do both hydrate and retain my skin’s moisture levels.
To incorporate the desertica cream back into my routine I’ve been using it in the morning before applying make-up (after washing of course) and also in the evening. My evening skin routine is quite lengthy but I make sure that after toning, essences, packs, and so on that I apply the Desertica Collagen Moisturizing Cream as the last step. It’s really important to moisturize at the end of your skin routine as this really locks in your moisture and other products you applied before it. By doing this I wake up with super soft skin!
